The Real Deal Hike- Purisima Creek Redwoods - 18 Miles, 4000 ft elevation (Hike 4)

I began my journey with a brand new backpack. It was a day pack I had just ordered and it happened to be in my mail just in time for the hike. I was ecstatic. So, I filled it with ALL the things I did not need. I started my 18 mile long and 4000 ft steep hike. Sometimes, I do very smart things. On that day, I was feeling especially smart. So, I carried 4 chocolate milks and 2 protein shakes and two sandwiches and 3 liters of water and some other things, like a heavy sunscreen. A lot of water is never a bad idea, but the many chocolate milks I could have lived without. I was expecting to have a lot of breaks, and expecting to finish all the edibles in my bag during those breaks. But, because the hike was so long we didn't take many breaks and the load in my backpack stayed heavy.

It may have been twenty minutes into the hike and I was huffing and puffing like crazy, and it may have possibly looked like I was about to collapse. Im not sure. But, god was watching over me and from the heavens flew a heavenly angelic magic mule. A heavenly angelic magic mule to my rescue? Yes everybody ! I swear! True story. (See picture to right) The heavenly angelic magic mule offered to take my back pack and I felt absolutely terrible handing it over , but I knew , it was better the god sent heavenly angelic magic mule take the backpack before I collapse or stay so far behind, that I don't make it to the parking lot before dark.  I felt terribly guilty that the heavenly angelic magic mule cast down to earth for my rescue was carrying his backpack AND my pack on a steep 4000 ft elevated 18 mile hike. I had no weight on me now and it was SO much easier to walk. So, it was an amazing hike. It was probably the most challenging ones in California. I have done a 18 miles hike before, in one day , but it was not steep and I dint have a heavy backpack on me.

This hike was definitely one of its kind because we finished the walk in 7 hours straight. Im not joking. We even had a nice lunch at the top, with a great view. It was a beautiful sunny day. I didn't get to take many pictures because we literally jogged our way most of the 18 miles. It was an amazing experience. I slept for 12 hours that night and 16 hours the night after that. In between the 16 hours of my sleep, when I was dreaming about biting on a crunchy, dutch crunch sandwich, I was shaken to wake up! I woke up really angry to find out, my bed was shaking pretty badly and San Francisco was hit by a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. I said a quick prayer, hoping the ceiling wouldn't come collapsing on me and went back to finish the 16 hours of recuperating time.

PS: Heavenly Angelic Magic Mule Cast from above is a highly educated, highly compassionate and highly powerful young man who also happens to look extremely handsome and is my friend ! YAY !! AM I lucky or am. I. lucky?
